Bridal Accessories
The Finishing Touch
What will you choose? Perhaps a glittering bracelet, or just the
right necklace to put the finishing touch to a plain bodice or
bare neckline. Likewise, carefully selected earrings will add an
element of elegance and draw attention to your features.
As long as your jewellery suits the rest of your look, there
are no rules regarding what you can or cannot wear to your
wedding. Accessories give you the perfect opportunity to
creatively complement your dress. They will add something very
special to your outfit, and should never be a last minute
choice.
All That Glitters
Your jewellery can be gold or silver. Perhaps you prefer the
idea of pearls, diamantes or crystal. Or, you may have a family
heirloom that would be perfect. An extensive range of exquisite
jewellery is available. The choice is up to you.
Are you wearing your hair swept up? Then consider elegant
dangling earrings. Have you selected a strapless gown? A
multi-strand necklace could be just the thing. Looking for
something to set off your hairstyle? Try out beautifully
decorated hairpins or a hair comb.
A Lasting Gift
Your bridesmaids will also need accessories. Brides often
purchase their bridesmaids a gift to thank them for their help
and support. What a lovely idea to give them a piece of
jewellery that can be worn after the wedding as well as with
their bridesmaids’ outfits.
Crowning Memories
Magically, your wedding turns you into a princess for a day.
So indulge your dream and wear a tiara. Tiaras can be ornate and
heavy, or fine and delicate, and you will need to take the time
to find one that is absolutely right for your dress. You will
also need to make sure that your tiara fits snugly so that you
don’t have to adjust it, but is not so tight that it begins to
hurt.
If the bodice or skirt of your gown is intricately beaded
with pearls or crystals, you may want to continue that theme in
your tiara. You should also consider the colour and pattern of
the fabric in your gown, as well as the overall theme of your
wedding. If you have decided on a medieval theme or a garden
wedding, you may want to incorporate flowers or butterflies in
your tiara design. You could wear a romantic crown of flowers or
simply scatter a few fragrant blooms through your hair.
Flower Girls
Flower girls love to dress up. If your flower girl is to wear a
tiara, why not have a smaller version of yours made, worn with
matching jewellery. Or maybe she is to be a fairy, wearing a
delicate crystal halo and carrying a wand to match. Above all,
remember to keep your flower girl’s accessories simple and easy
to wear.
Dressing Your Hair
The style of your dress should be taken into consideration when
choosing a hairstyle. Discuss this with your hairdresser and
then decide what to wear in your hair. If your hair is going to
be in an up-style, you should wear it that way while you are
trying on tiaras.
Once you have chosen your tiara you will then need to select
accessories that match. A necklace or choker, earrings, brooch,
or a bangle are all possibilities.
A Designer Touch
Bridal accessory specialists will liaise with you to design
jewellery and other accessories especially for you. If you can’t
find what you want in their standard range, ask if it is
possible for them to create a special item. Do call them early
in your planning phase though, as it takes time to create a
special piece.
Wisely chosen accessories will complete your finished look.
They will also become a lasting memento of your wedding day that
you will treasure in the years to come.
