First opened in 1918, this San Antonio golf
course is the oldest of city's municipal course
system. Brackenridge is the former and long time
host of the PGA Winter Tour event. The San
Antonio golf course itself measures 6,185 yards
from the tips and the modest green fees are in
the $12-$20 range.

This four-star resort course offers one of the
most luxurious golfing experiences in the area
with top-notch service and amenities. The course
itself is an Arthur Hills design completed in
1993. San Antonio's Hill Country Golf Club
course measures just under 7,000 yards, and the
green fees aren't bad for the resort feel; in
the $60-$120 range.

This Lee Trevino signature course features top
conditions and beautiful landscaping, with
native wildflowers and cactus lining the
fairways. The three-and-a-half star course
received a top-50 mention for service from
Golf Digest, and reviewers mentioned the
food to be outstanding for what it's worth.

Opened recently in 1998, this Tom Walker design
central to a luxury housing development is
thought of as one of the top courses in the San
Antonio area. A four-and-a-half star course,
Canyon Springs measures 7,078 yards from the
tips and features outstanding vistas of the San
Antonio area countryside. The course costs in
the $55-$100 range.

The courses at La Cantera, the Resort (7,001
yards) and the Palmer (6,926 yards), are the
finest in the San Antonio area. The complex
plays host to the annual PGA Tour Texas Open.
Both courses have received just about every
commendation a public course can receive since
their inceptions in 1994 and 2001 respectively.
La Cantera is a must-play destination for
golfers finding themselves in the San Antonio
area. Green fees are a bargain for these
world-class courses: $60-$140.

Pecan Valley was the site of the historic 1968
PGA Championship, and after a $5.5 million
renovation by architect Bob Cupp, the course is
expected to regain top status in Texas. The
course plays 7,010 yards, and features tight,
oak and pecan tree-lined fairways. A four-star
course, Pecan Valley green fees are in the
$75-$90 range.

This unique four-star course features a front
nine set in native grassland and a back nine
built in a 100-year-old rock quarry. This Keith
Foster design opened in 1993, and is praised
heavily for its outstanding year-round condition
and one-of-a-kind landscape. The course plays
6,740 yards from the tips, and will set you back
anywhere from $65-$110.
