Frommer's Review
Chef/owner Andrew Weissman, a local boy who studied in France and did a
stint at New York's famed Le Cirque, is very serious about his food -- and
it shows (and tastes). Presentations are gorgeous, and everything's made
from scratch with the freshest of ingredients, so such dishes as the
caramelized onion tart appetizer, the duck breast with foie gras and
calvados apples, or the light but rich sour cream cheesecakes are sensual
delights.
But Weissman expects patrons to take the dining experience as seriously
as he does. Nothing is available a la carte, so you've got to invest time --
and money -- on one of the fixed-price menus. And this is the only place in
San Antonio that requires men to wear jackets. Still, for foodies of all
stripes, this tiny, chic dining room with a peek-a-boo view of the river is
the place to eat in town. Come on Wednesday, and you can bring your
own wine without a corking fee.
