Frommer's Review
Don't be put off by the brand name or the fact that this all-suites hotel
is located on the wrong side of the tracks, er, highway. In a converted
turn-of-the-century building you'll find some of the nicest rooms in
downtown San Antonio -- large, with custom-made Arts and Crafts-style
furnishings, including comfy, clean-lined lounge chairs and faux Tiffany
lamps. They're also some of the best-equipped rooms around: All offer
sleeper sofas, microwaves, minifridges, and 27-inch TVs. And talk about
deals: You get a bargain ($2) hot buffet breakfast, free afternoon
cocktails, and free local calls. If you don't want to move your car from its
free parking spot or take a 10-minute walk to the heart of downtown, you can
take advantage of the free trolley passes that'll get you there. With all
the money you've saved on perks and on the room, you just might be able to
afford dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House, a few blocks away in the Sunset
Station complex.
