There
are four separate costs for a web site: payment for design and
creation of the site, recurring maintenance cost for the site to
be updated, domain name registration, and on-going hosting cost.
Each of these are explained below. To obtain a quote for

Development
The
cost of designing and creating pages for a web site varies
according to the functionality of the site, and the amount and
type of content included. Interactive sites that perform
some action in response to input, like storing responses to
survey questions or performing searches based upon specified
criteria, cost more than "static" sites that just
present information, and specialty features, such as
custom-designed graphics or animated images, also add to the
cost. And, as you would expect, sites containing a large
amount of text and/or images cost more than smaller sites.

Our
lowest-priced web site is a Highlights Page, an attractive,
single-page site providing the highlights of your business (or
any text and photos of your choice). Like all our sites,
it includes an attractive, unique page layout, and it allows for
a generous amount of text and images. The development
price for a Highlights Page is only $155, which includes up to
500 words of text if typed by us or up to 1500 words if provided
electronically by you, and up to 2 photographs if digitized
(scanned) by us or up to 12 photographs if provided by you
already digitized.
The cost for developing larger sites varies greatly and since
each site is unique, we can quote an exact price only after
receiving a complete description of the web site you desire.

Maintenance
The sites
that are most visited are those where the content is continually
updated, and it's important to keep information current on your
web site. Included free when we design your site are two
text changes (up to 20 words each) within the first year, such
as adding an item to a restaurant's menu or changing a phone
number or store hours.
For sites where regular changes are to be made that consist
solely of text or image replacements (not creation of new pages
or changes to the layout of existing pages), we can provide a
maintenance agreement. The agreement will describe the
changes and how often they are to be made, for a set price over
6 months. Examples of the type of sites that could take
advantage of a maintenance agreement are a grocery store that
advertises its weekly "specials" on its web site, or a
home improvement site that provides regularly changed how-to
articles.
To have changes made on an as-needed basis rather than
purchasing a maintenance agreement, just fill out the estimate
request form each time a change is needed.
Shown below are examples of maintenance agreement and as-needed
prices for text and photo updates, but we can create customized
maintenance agreements to meet your needs. The prices
shown are for text and/or image replacements only, not creation
of new pages or changes to the layout of existing pages.

Domain Name Registration
A
"domain name" is the address that visitors use to
visit your site, usually in the form "www.companyname.com". When
you register a domain, you are buying the ’right to use’
that name for a given period of time. The company that registers
it is called a registrar. Once you purchase those rights, you
can then proceed to build a website for that domain name and use
the email if your hosting company supports it. Domain name registration costs
$60 for the first two years.
Because so many names have already been "taken",
it is sometimes difficult to obtain your first choice, but we
will be happy to make as many requests as necessary to obtain a
name you are satisfied with.
If you prefer to avoid the domain name registration cost and
hosting setup fee (see below), your site can reside under the
officialsanantonio domain, with your address appearing as "www.yourcompanyname.officialsanantonio.com".
Hosting
A monthly
hosting fee is necessary for the disk space and network
connectivity that is required for your web site to be available
on the Internet. When we create your site, we take
measures to minimize the amount of disk space required without
sacrificing visual appeal. Most sites easily fit
into our basic rate of $15 per month for up to 20 megabytes.
If your site is larger than 20 megabytes, the cost is an
additional $1 per megabyte per month. We require that
sites we develop be hosted by us, unless you purchase the
copyright.
We charge a one-time $30 hosting setup fee if your site is to
have its own domain name.
